The latest medi-aesthetic treatment to revolutionise the beauty industry.
Introduced to Aspire Health & Beauty in 2017, the eDerma Pen is an advanced non surgical medi-aesthetics treatment, which has been designed to address a variety of skincare concerns ranging from; skin laxity to superficial scarring, stretch marks, deep set wrinkles, noticeable expression lines and hyper-pigmentation caused by environmental pollution and sun damage.
Using the next generation of high energy short wave diathermy to lift, tighten and significantly reduce visible signs of ageing, the eDerma Pen treatment uses a series of core modalities to deliver the results that you’ve been looking for.
After a detailed consultation, patch tests and skin analysis have taken place to ensure your suitability for the procedure, a bespoke light skin peel will be applied to the treatment area to artificially desquamate old skin cells, creating a fresh, flawless and vibrant canvas on which to carry out the treatment.
The eDerma Pen will then be used to target specific areas of concerns which you will have discussed with your therapist during your pre treatment consultation. A variety of issues can be addressed;
Premature Ageing – deep set wrinkles, expression lines and unwanted skin laxity in areas such as the neck, eyelid, jowls, forehead and hands
Hyper-Pigmentation – targeting age spots (solar lentigines), ephelides (freckles) and spider veins (telangiectasia)
Superficial scars – addressing acne related scars, superficial pitted scarring caused by illnesses such as chickenpox and stretch marks
The eDerma Pen is able to produce highly desirable results, as it causes topical stress to the skin and surrounding epidermal layers of tissue. Whilst not physically piercing the skin, the controlled micro-trauma created throughout the procedure artificially triggers the natural healing response which ultimately results in the resurfacing of new collagen enriched skin.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How is collagen simulated?
The eDerma Pen stimulates collagen by introducing microtrauma to the epidermis (top layers) of the skin. Cells such as those all important fibroblasts, which are found in the dermis, respond quickly to the wound healing process by breaking down the fibrin clot which has been artificially caused and undergoing division to create a new cellular matrix and collagen structure, to support other cells which collectively work in syncronisation throughout the healing process. After the eDerma Pen has been used to treat your specific area of concern, an active product infusion will be applied to the skin to aid regeneration and push antioxidants into the epidermal-dermal junction, before comprehensive aftercare is provided.
Is everyone suitable for the eDerma Pen treatment?
As with all beauty therapy and medi-aesthetics procedures, not every client will be suitable for the treatment. Your specific eligibility will be discussed in detail during the client consultation process, however primary contraindications which would prevent or restrict the treatment are;
- active bacterial infections e.g Impetigo and Acne Vulgaris
- blood disorders e.g. haemophilia and HIV
- Diabetes (letter from GP will be required)
- Cardiovascular and Circulatory disorders including clients who have a pacemaker fitted
- Certain prescribed anticoagulant medications (e.g. warfarin and aspirin) and oestrogen medications such as HRT and the contraceptive pill
- Clients who have recently undergone clinical dermabrasion
- Clients who suffer from emphysema, endocrine disorders, hepatitis and lupus
- First trimester of pregnancy
- Cosmetic fillers , botox and metal pins or plates in the area
- Skin conditions such as active rosacea, eczema, oedema, severe and any parasitic and/or viral infections e.g. ringworm, herpes simplex
Are there any precautions which I need to follow directly after the treatment has taken place?
Yes whilst a detailed list of aftercare points will be outlined by your therapist after the treatment, it’s important to keep the area worked on clean and dry for approximately 7 days post treatment, avoiding direct exposure to UV light and protecting your skin with a SPF of 30+ or total sun block at all times. Swimming pools, steam rooms, sunbeds, high impact exercise and other beauty therapy treatments such as high frequency, micro-current and galvanic should be avoided for a minimum of 7-12 days and up to a month until the first stages of healing have taken place.
If required how long after the procedure can I schedule a second treatment?
We would always advise that you do not book another treatment in the same area for a minimum of 12 weeks (or longer as advised by your therapist), to enable the skin to heal and regenerate to optimum capacity.
When can I expect to see results?
Results in the cases of hyper-pigmentation and skin tightening will appear within a couple of weeks, with full visibility presenting itself within 4-8 weeks post treatment. As the skin continues to regenerate results, will enhance for up to 12 weeks.
Do eDerma Pen therapists have to undergo any specific training before being able to use the pen?
Absolutely, all eDerma Pen Therapists have to undergo an intensive one day CPD course with DermaSkin Training before they are authorised to use the eDerma Pen. In order to enrol on the training, Therapists beauty accreditations are checked to ensure that they have the required underpinning anatomy and physiology and skin care knowledge and skills required to carry out an advanced medi-aesthetics treatment.
